Orchid nursery

Learn more about these fascinating species

Did you know that Cantos da Mata has orchid nurseries dedicated to the production of fresh cut flowers? We specialize in the research and genetic enhancement of Oncidium flexuosum, also commonly known as “dancing lady” or, as they are usually referred to in Brazil, “rain of gold”.

The cut flowers are sold to florists who work with decoration for events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties or corporate events. You can also enjoy different native species, including species of micro-orchids and terrestrial orchids, that can be found along our 19 trails and around the property.

Technology serving
nature

Our orchids are grown in a lab and cultivated in greenhouses. We offer visits guided by a specialist who will explain the full production process of these charming flowers.

“Rain of gold” orchids are native to the Atlantic Forest and they are adapted to the local climate conditions. Because of that, they grow stronger and less depended on interventions such as the use of chemical defenses. Nowadays these orchids can flower through all seasons as a result of the genetic enhancement of the species.
